この集会に寄せられたチェジュ島在住のサン-ヒー・チョイさんのメッセージを紹介します。彼女はこの本の「付録4 軍国主義」に登場します。

アンジーと日本の友人の皆さん
メッセージで集会に参加できることを光栄に思います。

何よりも、アンジー、そして日本の翻訳者やオーガナイザーの皆さん、集会開催おめでとうございます。
アンジーは2012年2月に江汀に来て、3週間ほど村に滞在しました。私は今でも、アンジーが地球の旗を手にグロンビ岩の有刺鉄線の中に勇気を持って入っていったのを思い出します。グロンビ岩は、多くの湧き水と多様な絶滅危惧種が生息する美しい岩の海岸でした。海軍はその海岸を破壊し、強引に海軍基地を建設しました。基地は結局2016年に完成しました。アンジーが有刺鉄線を切断したのは2012年のことでした。彼女はとても自信に満ち、毅然としていました。私たちは彼女の勇気と平和への献身に驚きました。
そして何よりも、私たち全員に対する彼女のメッセージに深い感銘を受けました。アンジーが3度逮捕されたとき、私は警察署で通訳として彼女に付き添いました。警察官に「どこから来たのか」と聞かれたときの彼女の答えを覚えています。アンジーはグロンビ岩から来たと答えました。国籍ではなかったのです。彼女は、私たちの唯一の惑星である地球に生き、地球を大切にする人間のひとりとしてそこにいたのです。
それは私のメッセージでもあります。特に、軍備増強や戦争が私たちの平和と安全を脅かすだけでなく、気候災害を悪化させる時代において、平和を求める私たちの声はより大きく、より広く届くものでなければなりません。ここ済州島の状況はより深刻です。軍と軍需資本は私たちよりも速く動いています。最近、武器輸出でイスラエルと協力関係にある武器製造会社ハンファシステムは、国防省が蓄積した打ち上げ技術を使い、済州の南側の海で韓国初の企業製の人工衛星を打ち上げました。この会社は済州に宇宙センターを建設する計画を立てています。済州島は海軍基地であることを超え、航空宇宙戦争の島になりつつあります。そして済州島だけでなく、太平洋の多くの島々や地域が戦争の前哨基地として強化されていると聞きます。私たちの陸、海、空、宇宙はすべて軍事化されています。私たちの生活は軍事化されています。
しかし、私たち人間はここにいます。平和と正義を求める人々の連帯こそが、非人間的で無慈悲な戦争と軍備増強から地球を救う唯一の選択肢であることを、私たちは知っています。戦争は死です。私たちは生きるためにここにいます。アンジー、そして奮闘している日本のすべての友人の皆さんに挨拶を送ります（congratulations）。皆さんのおかげで、私たちは愛と平和、そして次の世代や地球上のすべての素晴らしい生きものたちに対する責任で、互いにつながり合っていることを、私はいつも思い起こすのです。皆さん、ありがとうございます。

Dear Angie and friends in Japan,
It is my honor to join you with a message.

Above all, congratulations, Angie and the translators and organizers in Japan who deserve all the respect for hard work.
Angie came to Gangjeong in February 2012 and stayed in the village for about three weeks. I still remember Angie who courageously walked into the barbed wire of the Gureombi rock, with the Earth flag in her hands. The Gureombi rock was a beautiful rock coast with many spring waters and diverse endangered species. The navy destroyed the rock coast and forcefully built the navy base. The base was finally completed in 2016. It was in 2012 when Angie also cut the barbed wire also. She was very confident and resolute. We were amazed by her courage and commitment for peace.
  But, above all, I was deeply impressed by her message for all of us. When Angie was arrested three times, I was with her in the police station as a translator. I remember her answer to the policeman when he asked her where she came from. Angie answered that she came from the Grurombi Rock. It was not a citizenship.  it was not a nationality. She was there as one of the human beings living on and caring for our only planet, the Earth.
  So it became my message, also. Especially in the era when military build-up and wars not only threaten our peace and safety, but also aggravate the climate disaster, our voice calling for peace should be bigger and wider. The situation in Jeju is much worse here. The military and the arms capital are moving faster than us. Recently, the Hanhwa System, an arms company who cooperates with Israel for arms export, launched the 1st South Korea corporate-made satellite in the south sea of Jeju, using the launch technique accumulated by the Defense department. It plans to build the Space Center in Jeju. Jeju is becoming an aerospace war Island, beyond the navy base. And I hear it is not only Jeju, but many Islands and regions in the Pacific are being enforced to be the outposts for wars. Our land, sea, sky, and space are all being militarized. Our lives are militarized.
  But we, people are here. We know that the people’s solidarity for peace and justice is the only alternative to save the Earth from the inhuman and merciless wars and arms build-up. War is death. We are here for life. So congratulations to Angie and all the hard-working friends in Japan. Thanks to you, I will always remember that we are all connected with love, peace, and responsibility for our next generations and all unspeakable lives on our planet. Thank you, all.
